Røros Sled Dog Race

From Røros to Langen Gjestegård by Lake Femunden. See trail map.
Distance 2 x approximately 40 km.
Classes
- Senior Nome Style 12-dogs (9–12 dogs)
- Senior Nome Style 8-dogs (7-8 dogs)
- Senior Nome Style 6-dogs (4–6 dogs)
- Junior/senior Nome Style 4-dogs (in senior class only group B and C)
- Junior/senior Nordic Style (1–4 dogs)

The classes are further divided into the following groups:
- A: All dogs
- B: All pure-breeded dogs except "standing" bird dogs (eg. pointers, setters, vorsteh and bracker) and Siberian Huskies
- C: Siberian Huskies

Race program
Registration, drivers' meeting and prize ceremony in the senior classes will take place in the cafeteria at Optimus Ltd. (by the shop REMA 1000, address: Øverhagaen 4, 7374 Røros). Map of the location.
Friday 5th of February
Registration of mushers in the cafeteria at Optimus Ltd. from 18:00-19:00
- Control of driving licence (can also be bought at the registration desk for 50,- Norwegian Kroners. Please, bring money in cash!).
- Control of vaccination certificate
- Distribution of bib number
- Teams with Greenland and/or Samoyed dogs, Alaskan Malamute and Siberian Huskys, must hand in International Dog Certificate of the dogs of the team.
- Booking/payment of dinner at Langen (saturday evening) for handlers/family.
The registration is mandatory for all drivers!
Drivers' meeting in the cafeteria at Optimus Ltd. at 19:00

Saturday 6th of February
The race starts from Idrettsparken Hotel at 10:00
Nordic style drivers start off first, with 2 min between each equipage.
There will be a 15 min breake before start of the nome style drivers.
Nome style drivers start off with 2 min between each equipage.
The drivers are expected at Langen Gjestegård (the finish of the first lap) approximately 12:00.
Prize ceremony of the junior class at Langen Gjestegård at 18:00.
Dinner will be sereved at Langen Gjestegård approximately 19:00.
Sunday 7th of Februrary
Start of the second lap from Langen Gjestegård at 09:00
The first team is expected to finish at Idrettsparken Hotel approximately 12:00.
Prize ceremony approximately 15:00 at Optimus Ltd.
Mandatory equipment
- Clothing for extreme weather conditions (either worn by the driver or in the sled)
- Tent or bivouac sack
- Sleeping bag for winter conditions
- Sleeping mat
- Snow shovel
- Map in the M711-series, 1:50.000, number 1720 III Røros, 1719 IV Narbuvoll and 1719 I Røa or the touringmap Røros-Feragen 1:50 000 (should be bought in advance. Can be ordered through the internet, e.g. from Naturogfritid.no or Nomaden)
- Compass
- First aid kit
Rules
The nome style classes follow the Norwegian Dog Driver Association's (Norges Hundekjørereforbund) rules regarding mid distance races.
The nordic style classes follow the Norwegian Dog Driver Association's rules regarding touring races.
Age of dog/dogs
Nordic style: Minimum 24 months, maximum 9 years. It is possible to apply for dispensation regarding the maximum age, but not regarding the minimum age.
Nome style: Minimum 18 months.
Rooms/beds for dog handler

We kindly ask everybody to contribute to that the race areas, ie the start/finish chutes at Idrettsparken Hotel and the team holding area at Langen Gjestegård, will be kept tidy. Thank you!
